Item C5 was a modification to a federally funded subaward and grant agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), a pass-through entity for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The original grant award was $1,362,919.50; the modification reinstates and extends the agreement term while decreasing federal funds by $179,820, according to the staff summary presented to council.
Item C6 is a first reading of an ordinance to amend the city code to restrict smoking and vaping in city-owned parks; staff announced the next public hearing on that ordinance will be Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6 p.m. (second reading and public hearing).
Other consent items authorized purchases and final payments: Cisco Catalyst network switches for the Public Safety Complex from CDW Government Inc., estimated $94,657.61 (C7); a MowerMax Primo long-arm mower under the Florida Sheriffs Association contract, $249,670.63 (C8); rehabilitation of 15 manholes under a purchasing cooperative with anticipated expenditures of $234,179.50 (C9); final payment for roof replacements for six city-owned buildings due to hurricane damage, $45,180 (C10); final payment for improvements at Mayer's Park at Freedom Lake, $197,740.63 (C11); and final payment for paving in the Lakes neighborhood under a Hillsborough County contract, with a contract amount cited at $1,800,000 and a stated final payment of $1,115,104.34 (C12).
A council member moved to approve items C1 through C12 inclusive, with C6 designated as first reading prior to public hearing; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Staff advised the public that the next reading for the parks smoking ordinance is scheduled for June 12 at 6 p.m.
