North Lauderdale Code Enforcement Board sets multiple compliance deadlines, orders fines for continued violations

The City of North Lauderdale Code Enforcement Board on May 28 ordered several property owners to correct violations, granted extensions for others and dismissed or certified a number of cases. The board found a swale violation at 526 SW 70th Terrace and set a compliance deadline of July 27, 2025, after hearing testimony from the property owner and city staff.

Code Enforcement Officer Ganeshaw told the board the city had first viewed the property on June 14, 2024, and that the city was seeking a final violation finding and 60 days to comply. The board ultimately ordered correction by July 27, 2025, and set a $50-per-day fine for each day the violation continues after that date. The board noted that obtaining a permit for a driveway would effectively extend the timeframe through the permitting process and asked that the owner keep Code Officer Ganeshaw informed of progress.

Cindy Joseph Saldana, who identified herself as the owner of the property, said she had tried seed and sod and attributed the difficulty to large tree roots and shade. “I do keep up with my yard. I keep up with everything,” Saldana said, adding she had contracted to install a driveway and had paid a down payment. “I already put a down payment,” she told the board.
