Committee members then heard a sequence of staff reports covering: an update from the Department of Consumer Affairs on a governor's reorganization plan; the bureau's planned conversion to a new records system called Connect with an anticipated internal conversion in mid-June and an institutional rollout in August; the status of several regulatory packages; and operational updates from licensing, compliance, investigations, discipline and student-assistance units.
The meeting featured staff presentations with operational metrics including application processing timelines, inspection counts, complaint and investigation caseloads, and Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) claim and payout figures. Multiple bureau managers said units are fully staffed and reported improvements in processing and enforcement metrics.
No other formal policy votes were taken during the session.
The committee adjourned with the next meeting scheduled for August.
