Commission approves rezoning at 6718 N. Hwy 349 to allow bank

The Midland Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7-0 to rezone the property at 6718 North Highway 349 from O-1 (Office District) to LR (Local Retail District) to allow a bank to operate at the site.
Planner Petrias Casala presented the request on behalf of applicant T.J. Henson, saying the property is currently zoned O-1 and that surrounding parcels include LR to the north and south, PD to the east and unincorporated territory to the west. Casala said the Tall City Tomorrow future land use designation for the site is Urban Medium, and staff received no objections and recommended approval. The applicant indicated he was present and deferred to staff during the hearing.
Commissioner Cisnega (motion) and Commissioner Berry (second) moved the item; the motion carried 7-0. No members of the public spoke for or against the request. Staff did not cite any additional conditions beyond the normal permitting process.
