The Manhattan City Executive Committee introduced five newly appointed board members and said staff will arrange a short onboarding program in the coming one to two weeks.
Chair Carter briefly introduced the five new members by name — Akila Askew, William Benesch, John Paul Deverna (a public member who had already participated on the land use committee), Eugene Yu and Betty Cooper Boy Weiss — and invited them to attend committee meetings while staff schedules a more formal orientation. Betty identified herself as a junior at Hunter College High School.
Carter said he would email the new members about onboarding and encouraged them to attend committee meetings in the interim to learn committee procedures. Several board members suggested a quick separate welcome meeting so committee chairs would know to expect new participants.
No formal actions were taken; staff said they will reach out to new members to schedule onboarding and recommended that new members notify committee chairs in advance of attending to facilitate introductions.
