Chairman Lafferty, sponsor of the bill as amended, said he sought the shorter sunset to allow the legislature time to review the organization and its operations. "I was at a Launch Tennessee event... I met a young man ... it made me wonder how much of an eye we really have on this," Lafferty said, explaining his request to shorten the extension while he pursued follow‑up questions.
