District Manager Bob alerted committee members May 11 to OMB and New York City Council finance division materials that can inform the board's budget priorities and borough budget consultation meetings this fall. He forwarded an email containing links to agency webpages, the Council finance reports and the Mayor's Management Report and encouraged committee chairs to review the materials before September agency hearings.
"If you click on those attachments, it contains links to, city agency websites, to the New York City Council's finance division's report on that on a particular agency and a link to the mayor's management report on that agency," Bob said. He recommended committee chairs examine last year's budget requests and the agency responses (available through the board's budget register) so they can craft questions for borough budget consultations.
Separately, the board will offer Zoom training for committee chairs, vice chairs and executive committee members with Hannah Dubin and Susan Kent to improve meeting operations and use of the chat and other remote tools. Carter said training will likely be held on May 27 or May 28 beginning at 6:30 p.m. and run about 75–90 minutes. He encouraged chairs to attend and said the session will include tips on moving meetings along and using the chat to supply follow‑up material.
Why it matters: the board's fall budget priorities and district needs statement must be prepared in advance of borough budget consultation meetings; staff and chairs said earlier review of agency finance and management reports will make those consultations more productive. The training is intended to streamline virtual meetings during continuing remote operations.
