Washington County receives $300,000 workforce grant and $30,000 Mastercard award for small-business revitalization

Staff also reported an additional $30,000 award from Mastercard for small-business entrepreneurship along Nelson Street and to continue work on revitalizing the “shotgun property.” The county said it was coordinating site-schedule information with a contact (Chuck Sexton) and plans to publish schedules publicly in May; staff noted the county has been working with Entergy to parcel airport property for a new industrial site and described an uptick in interest and industrial inquiries tied to an energy project that is expected to come online in 2028.
