Mary Chapa Academy students to stage "The Jungle Book Kids" April 11-12

Greenfield Union School District interim Superintendent Nara Cortez announced that Mary Chapa Academy students will perform The Jungle Book Kids on April 11 and April 12, the district said during its "60 Seconds with GUSD" segment.
Cortez introduced Misty (known in the program as "Miss B"), a MAPPA teacher at Mary Chapa Academy, who described a production that organizers say relies on broad student and community participation. "We are having a production of The Jungle Book Kids in April. It's gonna be April 11 and April 12," Misty said. "In order to make this a success, it really involves the whole community at the school to be involved in getting their hands on, whether it's just making a poster or actually participating on set."
Misty said students are taking on a range of responsibilities beyond acting, including technical roles and costume preparation. "I've actually had students ask for specific roles regarding tech and asking to take home costumes so that they can stitch and prepare them," she said. She added that every student in her classes will participate in some way, whether making a poster, building a prop or contributing to the set.
Cortez closed the segment by inviting the public to attend the performances; the April 12 showing is listed in the segment as beginning at 2:00 p.m. Ticketing, venue details and any admission cost were not specified in the broadcast.
The announcement aired as part of the district's short-format outreach program, "60 Seconds with GUSD."
