Senator Duhamel introduced Aloysius Reaman, describing his Rapid City roots, two years at the School of Mines, and a long career in local business including finance, medical manufacturing and automotive retail; Duhamel said Reaman had been a managing partner of Black Hills Harley-Davidson and had substantial local civic involvement, and urged the Senate to "advise and consent to the governor's appointment."
Senator Vilhauer introduced Michael Cartney, whom he described as a retired Air Force colonel, former president of Lake Area Tech College and a member of the South Dakota Hall of Fame. Vilhauer noted that while Cartney had retired from college leadership he continued to serve in civic roles and urged affirmation.
After brief, supportive remarks, the secretary called the roll for each appointment. The secretary reported 34 yeas, 0 nays and 1 excused on each confirmation; the president declared both appointments confirmed.
The appointees will serve on the South Dakota Ellsworth Development Authority; no further floor action or committee follow-up was announced.
