Community Development Director Maria Turner told the board staff supported the continuance request. Appellant representatives objected to a continuation only in brief public comment; the applicant, Scottsdale Energy Corporation staff, asked the board not to continue and said the planning commission’s decision had been final since December and earlier proceedings had given appellants ample time to prepare.
Multiple public speakers, including neighbors and the appellant’s counsel, cited outstanding Public Records Act requests and new information that may affect the county’s prior agreements with state agencies. One speaker said the Department of Water Resources is reviewing whether conditions of a prior funding agreement were met; another called the requested continuance a short, date‑certain pause and urged the board to grant it so all parties and reviewers have time to assemble documents.
After discussion the board voted 5–0 to continue the public hearing to June 17 at 1 p.m.
