The Committee on Financial Institutions and Pensions voted on final actions for two bills and approved committee minutes during its March 6 meeting. The panel approved an amendment and then passed Senate Bill 64 out of committee, and later passed Senate Bill 139 as amended. The committee also approved minutes from the March 3 and March 5 meetings.
Committee members first took up Senate Bill 64, which a reviser summarized as a bill that “adjusts the CAPERS Act statutory references, deals with some administrative appeal timing issues, and updates provisions to do some compliance with federal internal revenue code changes.” The chair introduced a simple amendment changing the enactment date from the statute book to the register; the amendment was seconded by Representative White and adopted by voice vote. A subsequent motion to pass SB 64 as amended was seconded by Representative Roser and passed by voice vote.
The committee then considered Senate Bill 139. A reviser described SB 139 as a bill that “updates some definitions, terms, conditions and other items in the state banking code.” The chair offered the same enactment-date amendment (moving enactment to the register); that amendment was seconded by Vice Chair Steens and adopted by voice vote. Representative Roser moved to pass SB 139 as amended; Vice Chair Steens seconded the motion and the committee passed the bill by voice vote.
At the end of the meeting the committee considered minutes from March 3 and March 5. Vice Chair Steens moved to approve the minutes; Representative Neely seconded. The committee approved the minutes by voice vote.
All votes recorded in the meeting transcript were taken by voice and recorded as “ayes” with no roll-call tallies included in the transcript. The transcript records members asking that an affirmative vote be noted for specific members in committee records.
The committee adjourned after brief remarks from the chair thanking staff and members for the session’s work.
