Middletown board approves $5 million NYSERDA grant amendment for Twin Towers geothermal project

The action was contained in the district's financial memorandum (14D) and was moved by Mitchell Williams and seconded by Ms. Romero. The motion carried unanimously, 7-0.
District staff member Mr. Tuttle told the board the award grew in two phases: an initial $4,000,000 award tied to the Twin Towers project, followed by a second award of $1,000,000. "So this is just approving the $5,000,000 grant from NYSERDA and extending the contract, out till the project's done," Tuttle said during the meeting.
Board members did not ask additional questions after the brief presentation and voted to approve the financial memorandum, which included the NYSERDA item among other financial items on the consent portion of the agenda.
Clarifying details recorded at the meeting: the two-track NYSERDA award was described on the record as $4,000,000 (track 1) plus an additional $1,000,000 (track 2), for a total of $5,000,000; the approval extends an existing contract until project completion. The agenda listed the item under financial memorandum 14D, numbers 1 through 10.
