Town awarded $2 million for State Line Road; county missed funding but plans to reapply

Daggett County officials updated the commission on March 11 about State Line Road funding: the town received a $2,000,000 award from the Joint Highways program for the town’s portion of the road, while the county’s application for its segment fell short and was ranked just outside available funding.
A commissioner said Joint Highways awarded the town $2,000,000 and recommended the county reapply next year. “The town was awarded their request of $2,000,000 for that project,” the official said. County staff said the county application received positive feedback and would be a top candidate if additional funding becomes available.
Officials outlined a joint strategy between the town, the county and the Fleming Gorge Road and Transportation District to pursue Community Impact Board (CIB) financing as a potential loan or grant mix to advance the entire project. Under the timeline described at the meeting, town funds would be available in 2028; if the county secures Joint Highways funding next spring it would be available in 2029. With a coordinated funding package, staff said engineering could occur in 2026 and construction in 2027.
No formal county action was taken at the March 11 meeting; commissioners said they will reapply to Joint Highways next year and continue coordination with town and district partners.
