DPR updates board on pesticide rule changes and leadership; enforcement letters and Title 16 amendments noted

Correa said planning has begun for the department’s structural regulatory training, tentatively scheduled in Northern California in October, and DPR staff will convene a work group with the Structural Pest Control Board to develop the training.
Correa also reported that DPR issued enforcement letter 24‑20 in December 2024 to implement changes under Assembly Bill 2552 (effective Jan. 1, 2025) affecting the use of first‑generation anticoagulant rodenticides, and that DPR issued additional enforcement letters (identified in materials as 204‑15 and 204‑16) in November 2024 announcing amendments to Title 16 CCR sections addressing the structural fumigation log, pesticide use recordkeeping and pre‑ and post‑notice requirements (sections added as 9,970.41 through 9,970.43 referenced by staff).
Finally, Correa told the board that DPR Director Julie Henderson retired effective Jan. 20, 2025, and that the Governor appointed Dr. Karen Morrison as the new DPR director; Correa said Director Morrison had been the department’s chief deputy director of science and advisors.
