The superintendent said Britton has taught in the School District of Manatee County, has served as a principal at elementary, middle and high school levels in both district-run and charter schools, and has three years’ experience as an assistant superintendent in a district with an elected superintendent. Dr. Wysong said Britton’s first day is scheduled for March 31 and that the short special meeting was convened to enable timely onboarding.
A board member moved to approve the personnel appointment and another board member seconded the motion. The vote passed 5–0. The board recorded the result as “passes 5 to 0.” The meeting then adjourned.
The appointment was presented to the board as an administrative personnel action; the superintendent asked for and received the board’s approval so the district could complete onboarding before Britton’s start date.
