County clerk to accept federal reimbursement for election security purchases

Eaton County Clerk Diana informed commissioners the state offered a federal HAVA (Help America Vote Act) election-security reimbursement for eligible purchases. The county had bought ballot security bags and laptops for electronic poll books and was eligible for reimbursement under a state-run grant that used remaining HAVA funds.

Clerk Diana said the county sought $2,248.24 in reimbursement and that the grant requires no local match. The Ways and Means Committee voted in favor of accepting the reimbursement; the motion passed on a voice vote with commissioners recorded as "aye."
