The Quincy License Board on Jan. 28 approved a slate of special‑use one‑day liquor permits for 2025 community events, several nonprofit and fundraising events, and a new wine-and-malt restaurant license, and it elected new board leadership.
Board members voted to grant the City of Quincy’s requests for special‑use 1‑day liquor permits covering the city’s 2025 community events — including Winterfest (Feb. 17 at Hancock/Adams Common), outdoor concerts and festivals through the summer and fall, the tree‑lighting (Nov. 28) and a Christmas event (Nov. 29). The board also approved special‑use permits for Quincy Asian Resources’ Lunar New Year festival (Feb. 16, North Quincy High School) and August Moon Festival (Aug. 17, Coddington Street); Houghs Neck Congregational Church’s 14th Annual Chili Cook‑Off (Feb. 1, 1–4 p.m.); Quincy Friends of Scouting trivia night fundraiser (March 8, Mason’s Hall, beer and wine only); the Jimmy Kennedy Memorial Run for ALS (Saturday, June 7); and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Bike MS Cape Cod Getaway route through Quincy (Saturday, June 28).
Separately, the board approved LCMH Corp., doing business as Schoolhouse Pizza, for a common victualler license at 3 School Street following a change of ownership (proposed manager: Louis Martins) and granted a wine-and-malt beverage restaurant license to Larb’s Group Inc., doing business as Larb’s Thai Street Food, for the premises at 671 Hancock Street (proposed manager: Chakreet Donenwart). One application — Forover Inc. at 184 West Gorham Street — was withdrawn and the item was removed from the agenda.
Board members also completed internal business: they nominated and approved Clerk Crispo as license board chair and Director Rob Collin as vice chair, accepted the minutes from the Jan. 14 hearing and adjourned. The board announced its next hearing date as Feb. 11.
Discussion and clarifications recorded in the meeting included a request that the Police Department coordinate a detail for the North Quincy High School Lunar New Year event; confirmation that the Squirrel Run route will remain the same for the Jimmy Kennedy Memorial Run; and a statement that the Schoolhouse Pizza change involved no operational changes and retained the same hours (10:30 a.m.–9 p.m.). The board noted the Larb’s hearing had been advertised on Jan. 16 and that the proposed Larb’s seating was 16 seats.
