Providence Council passes resolution standing with residents amid federal policy uncertainty

She framed DEI as recognition and fairness that underpins schools, social services and community celebrations, and said the loss of federal funding tied to DEI reductions would most harm the city’s most vulnerable.

The council adopted the resolution by voice vote with the ayes prevailing. The resolution expresses the Providence City Council’s commitment to serving and advocating for community members facing hardship related to federal policy changes.
