The Laguna Beach Design Review Board on March 13 approved design review resolution 24-1414 for exterior modifications to a single-family home at 1055 Summit Drive.
Staff presented the project as an exterior remodel that replaces horizontal wood siding with gray stucco, reroofs the house with composition shingle and swaps the garage door for a brushed stainless-steel door. The application originally included an air-conditioning unit on the third-level deck; staff said neighbors raised noise concerns and the applicant revised plans to ground-mount the unit.
Board members discussed design articulation, neighborhood compatibility and concerns about lighting and glare from the proposed stainless-steel garage door. Several board members said the change improved the property and welcomed the applicant’s decision to move the air conditioning off the deck. No members of the public spoke on the item during the hearing.
After deliberation the board voted to adopt resolution 24-1414 and approve design review 24-1414, finding the action exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines §15301.
