Board approves districtwide two-way communication platform to consolidate family outreach

The Boone County Board of Education voted 4-0 to adopt a districtwide two-way communication platform intended to replace multiple messaging apps and improve translation and access for families.
Superintendent Dr. Jesse Hauswald recommended the purchase and said the platform will centralize messages, reduce missed communications caused by many separate apps and provide translation services for English learners. "If we could create one platform and one system, it would be much preferred," Hauswald said during the meeting.
Board members asked how the rollout will affect transient families and prekindergarten families. District staff said the system is intended to be more fluid for families who move between schools and that preschool families will be included when the pre-K program is folded into the district's broader operations. Training for staff is expected before full use in the 2025-26 school year, and the vendor will allow early access for staff training.
Officials said consolidating communications should also reduce costs over time by eliminating multiple paid services currently used by schools. The board approved the recommendation and asked the administration to coordinate site-based committees so they will not need separate contracts for overlapping services.
