District outlines summer maintenance work and intermediate school entrance project timeline

Randall from district maintenance and other administrators updated the board on facilities projects and the intermediate school entrance addition.
Randall said planned summer work includes LVT installation and academic‑wing renovations at the intermediate school, exterior painting of the middle school (a bid package is being prepared) and seal‑and‑stripe work for the middle school parking lot. He said the district is recruiting summer help for floor and paint crews and that past student workers are increasingly moving on to full‑time jobs.
On the intermediate school entrance project, district staff said designer Mike Spade will do a page‑by‑page review of plans with district representatives and then submit the documents to state and regulatory reviewers. Staff reported Spade expects reviews to take about one to one and a half months once submitted, with the state review likely the longest. Christian with CREO/CR Crawford will begin preliminary pricing when plans are available; a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) could be expected in May or possibly early June, the district said, and construction timing is not expected to change once the GMP is set.
Administrators cautioned permitting and state review timelines have lengthened, and that the district will continue to press state reviewers to keep the schedule on track. No action or contract was approved at the meeting; the presentation was an update on design and procurement timetables.
