District outlines facilities upgrades, security work and Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation partnership at McClure

Facilities and security: Board committee members reported HVAC control systems across district buildings are beyond end-of-life and scheduled for replacement. Contractors are awaiting easement paperwork from property owners for elementary-school flashing beacons at Twin Rivers; when paperwork is complete the contractor will install new flashers at McClure and Twin Rivers. The Francis McClure exterior parking-lot lighting upgrade was completed in-house and was reported to make parking areas substantially brighter. The high-school vestibule security upgrades are in final design with the project architect and are intended to be completed over the summer. Stadium restroom and concession-stand repairs and upgrades were described as in-house maintenance work following winter weather-related pipe leaks.
Safety systems: Committee members discussed camera-system limitations, card-reader access replacement, aging metal-detector units, door hardware and lock replacements, and opportunities to pursue PCCD (Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency) grant funding for some safety improvements. The district said it would plan safety meetings and continue to evaluate necessary upgrades.
Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation partnership: The board’s partnership committee reported the design phase for the McClure partnership is concluding after six design sessions and seven subcommittees. The committee outlined a three-stage implementation approach (influence, impact, transform) and said the “influence” stage will be implemented at the start of the 2025–26 school year. District and foundation staff held a State of the Partnership Summit on March 12 with community stakeholders. The board asked Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation representatives to attend the April 10 board meeting to provide a community update.
No formal action items approving construction contracts or capital expenditures were recorded during public session; committees said items requiring contract awards or funding will appear on future agendas as needed.
