Carlisle social worker outlines mobile dental clinic serving elementary students

Shana Parrish, the district’s elementary social worker, told the Carlisle Area School District engagement committee that she brought a mobile dental clinic program, Big Smiles Mobile Dental Clinic, to elementary schools this year to increase access to dental care for students.
Parrish said the program provides preventive services including exams, cleanings, fluoride and sealants; restorative services such as cavity fillings and simple extractions; and emergency treatment for infections or abscesses. She said the clinic will not perform procedures that require sedation or complex root canals and will refer those cases externally.
