The Johnson County School Board acted on several consent and business items during its March 24 meeting, approving a bus-sign advertising contract, a one-year master services agreement for online payments, and tenure for multiple teachers.
Bus-sign advertising The board approved a one-year dual contract with District Solutions to place advertising on school buses. Board members noted the program is turnkey for the district and reported increased revenue compared with previous years. On the motion to approve the bus-sign advertising contract the board recorded a roll-call vote in which the members present voted yes.
Online payments (Elideo) master services agreement The board approved a master services agreement with Elideo (Elideo/ElideoPay) to allow parents to pay fees, field trips and school merchandise by card. Central cafeteria payments were explicitly excluded because USDA rules limit electronic payment fees for school meal programs. During discussion the board removed language that would have allowed the contract to renew automatically; the approved agreement covers one year and must be renewed or returned to the board thereafter. The board signaled that if the vendor does not accept that one-year, non-automatic renewal the district will not participate.
Teacher tenure The board granted tenure to a slate of candidates recommended by district administrators. The meeting packet and the superintendent's remarks listed the candidates by school and assignment; among those named in the meeting were Anna Ditsford (David Elementary, second grade), Carly Bernadette Harley (Mountain City Elementary, sixth grade science and social studies), Allison Hageman (Mountain City Elementary, second grade), Lisa Mihayla (Middle School, English), Bailey Carley (Roan Creek Elementary, kindergarten), Kate Miller (Middle School, physical education), and Elizabeth Miller (Mountain City Elementary, sixth-grade ELA). The board moved, seconded and approved the tenure slate by roll call.
