Durfee said she is open to discussion and recommended an exit interview. Members asked staff to bring the item to Human Resources for next steps and to consider whether Durfee could serve in a limited consulting role to provide continuity while the town conducts a search.
Board members and staff thanked Durfee for her service; several members said they would welcome her continued participation in some form so ongoing projects (rules and regulations updates, stormwater bylaw and mapping work) can proceed with continuity. Planning staff said they would meet with HR and return to the board with options.
Durfee’s notice means the planning office will enter a transition period; the board asked staff to prioritize a short-term coverage plan and to consider consulting arrangements to preserve institutional knowledge during the search for a permanent planner.
