Hooper’s Planning Commission voted March 13 to approve a conditional use permit for a 2,000‑square‑foot oversized structure at 5994 West 5900 South, to be used for storage, after a brief staff presentation and a public hearing.
Staff said the proposed structure is under the maximum height limit (23 feet, 6 inches), will meet required setbacks (5 feet rear, 5 feet interior side) and that the applicant did not indicate plans for plumbing, electrical work, or a business to be conducted inside the building. Staff presented a rendering and site plan to the commission.
Applicant Rhett Hickman told the commission the building would be used for storage (boats, equipment). During public comment, Donna Ray asked how large doors would be operated without power; Hickman indicated the doors would be manually operated at this time and staff reminded the applicant that any future electrical or plumbing work would require proper city permits.
After closing public comment, Commissioner Prince moved to approve the conditional use permit; Commissioner Wall seconded. The commission voted in favor and staff recorded the motion as passing.
