Brownsburg parks: staff certification, Virgil Park landscaping award and splash pad construction progress

Amber Lane, speaking for the Parks Department on March 13, 2025, highlighted staff and project updates for Brownsburg parks.
Lane congratulated Hannah Smith, the department’s natural resources technician, on earning a certified horticulturist credential in addition to her certified arborist and pesticide/herbicide application certifications. Lane said Smith also holds a prescribed-burn boss certification.
Lane said Virgil Park has been selected for a landscaping award; the ceremony is expected in April and this would be the park’s second award. On the splash pad project, Lane reported construction is about 50% complete: structures are erected and crews are pouring surrounding concrete, but internal piping has not yet been installed. She said contractor 3 D Pro is performing general construction work and Kramer is assisting the town with project oversight.
Councilors responded positively to the updates and thanked park staff for continuing education and design work. No formal action was taken on the report; councilors asked staff to include the splash pad status in upcoming reports.
