Parks board rolls out official 2025 events calendar; new "Prosper on Tap" series planned

Caitlin Stone, a parks and recreation staff member, presented the Parks and Recreation Board the official 2025 event calendar at the March 13 meeting and said staff will circulate calendar copies to board members.
"This is our official 2025 town event calendar," Stone said, listing past and upcoming events including the Prosper Fishing Derby, an active-adult mayor's coffee, the P-Town Throwdown pickleball tournament on April 5, a downtown block party on May 1, and Celebrate Prosper on Oct. 4.
Stone said the department is contracting with a third-party promoter for a new downtown series called Prosper on Tap; the first event in that series, Blooms and Bubbly, is scheduled for May 10. She said the series will include four events in total once additional logistics are finalized.
Stone also summarized the recent Fishing Derby, saying about "roughly 300 people" attended. Staff noted weather contributed to a partially frozen pond but that the event proceeded with hot drinks, prizes and sponsorship by Pond Medics.
Stone said event postcards and other marketing materials have been distributed, and staff will provide the board with calendar copies by email. No formal board action was taken on the calendar at the meeting.
