Sheridan County airport passes FAA inspection with minor discrepancies; manager seeks ad hoc committee for consultant selection

Sheridan County Airport Manager Robert Gill told the county staff meeting on Aug. 12 that the airport’s recent FAA Part 139 inspection went well overall, though the inspection identified three small discrepancies that are being corrected.

"We did have 3 small discrepancies, 2 just involving documentation that's already been, corrected and, 1 with, some steer tires involving a fuel truck with Bighorn Airways, and that's being addressed too," Gill said. He said the inspection had examined the airport "with a fine tooth comb." Gill reported that staff have already corrected the two documentation issues and are addressing the equipment issue.

Gill said he is preparing a record of survey for the Legacy Business Park east of the airport to consolidate old surveys and easements into a single, clearer document; he has been working with Pressfelt surveying on that effort. He noted that Durwork has started work on a hangar on-site and referenced an active lease and leasing-policy review.

Gill also reported that the airport’s master agreement with Morris & Morrill (name in transcript: Morris Merrily) ends in January and that he is preparing an RFQ for a consulting firm to replace it. He asked the commission to form an ad hoc selection committee; Gill said in past selection efforts the committee included Ken Muller and Mark (county planner) and the commission chair. Commission members present expressed no concerns about forming the committee.

Ending: The airport manager asked the commission to form the ad hoc committee so he can finalize the RFQ and proceed with consultant selection; staff will return with a proposed committee membership and RFQ scope.
