Members raised concerns that the fee increase would be borne by households facing foreclosure and that the increase represents a 50% jump from the prior fee. Supporters said the proposed fee would still be lower than filing fees in many other states and that the increased revenue would fund services aimed at preventing foreclosure. Committee members voted to adopt the amendment setting the fee at $450 and then voted favorably on the bill as amended.
