Caliber Collision site plan on Genesee Street approved by board pending EAC, variance and special-use permit

The Town of Cheektowaga Planning Board voted to approve the site plan for Caliber Collision at 4959 Genesee Street but made the approval contingent on Environmental Advisory Committee review, a setback variance, and a special-use permit.
Robin Sarniak of Green and Peterson, representing Caliber Collision and Cross Architects, told the board the project previously appeared before the EAC and the ZBA; both bodies had not finalized action because of review timing. Sarniak said DOT comments were minor and that town engineering comments from Drew Lloyd had been addressed. "So that's the comments now... I don't foresee a problem now," Sarniak said of permits under the highway work permit and stormwater review.
Board discussion included site access, snow storage, and landscaping. Sarniak said the site currently has many dead ash trees and that the plan replaces those with 17 new trees plus additional plantings. The southwest corner of the parking area will require a variance for a reduced setback from the western property line (approximately 4.4 feet from the property line), and the applicant requested a special-use permit for vehicle use area setbacks.
A motion to approve the site plan pending EAC concurrence, a variance for the parking setback, and the special-use permit carried by voice vote. Board member Tom Bortle seconded the motion; the transcript records an "Aye" vote and the chair declared "Motion carried."
