The Sulphur City Council on March 10 accepted Mayor Mike Danahey’s recommendations to appoint Billy Lofton as city attorney and city prosecutor and to appoint Rusty Stutes Jr. and Rusty Stutes III as assistant city attorneys/city prosecutors.
The outgoing city attorney, Kay Cole, was introduced and praised; the mayor and council acknowledged Cole’s appointment to the Louisiana Supreme Court and thanked him for his service. Cole spoke briefly, congratulated the council and recommended Lofton as a no-learning-curve successor because of his prior experience.
The council held roll-call votes on the resolutions accepting the mayor’s appointments; members present voted in favor. No public comment was recorded on the personnel items.
