Committee backs type 21 liquor license for Luke's Local at 1266 Ninth Avenue

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted March 13, 2025, to prepare a resolution finding that issuing a type 21 off‑sale general beer, wine and distilled spirits liquor license to Luke's Local Inc., doing business as Luke's Local at 1266 Ninth Avenue, would serve the public convenience or necessity.

The committee heard a brief report from an ABC Liaison Unit officer that the applicant had applied for a type 21 license to operate an off‑sale general package store at that address. The officer said there were zero letters of protest and zero letters of support on file, that the site is located in Plot 909A and identified as a high‑crime area, and that the location is in Census Tract 302.02, which the officer described as a high‑concentration area. The ABC Liaison Unit recommended approval with a condition that the petitioner “actively monitor the area under their control in an effort to prevent loitering of persons on any property adjacent to the premises as depicted on ABC 253.”

There was no public comment on the item and no applicant representative on the roster. Chair Matt Dorsey moved that the clerk prepare a resolution making the public‑convenience‑or‑necessity determination and forward it to the Board with a positive recommendation. The committee recorded a roll call with Vice Chair Bilal Mahmood, Supervisor Danny Sauter and Chair Matt Dorsey voting aye; the motion passed.

The committee’s action is a recommendation to the full Board of Supervisors; the resolution and any final licensing decision will appear on the Board agenda and in the Alcoholic Beverage Control licensing record.
