Pflugerville library reports higher circulation, programs ramp up and about 3,000 new cards last year

During the March 12 meeting of the Pflugerville Public Library Board, the library director reported that both physical and electronic circulation are up from last year and that library visits are increasing.
"It's looking pretty good. Our circulation for, physical and for electronic is up from last year," the director said, and added that physical visits are up: "Library visits, physical are up, so that's great. We like people coming through the door." The director noted catalog visits were down slightly and said attendance is "just slightly down" overall, but that outreach numbers and programming are strong going into spring.
The director highlighted upcoming and recent programs: Pet Fest on Saturday (she said the event starts at 2 p.m.), the opening of the dog park that precedes Pet Fest, a Black History Month Mini Book Buzz online event, a "period party" aimed at tween patrons presented by a nurse, and the seventeenth Romance Reader social featuring local authors, including one who serves on the Equity Commission. When asked about library cards, the director said the system increased by "about 3,000 cards last year," a figure she said she reports annually.
Student Liaison Lucas provided a brief school update, saying AP exam prep sessions and spring break were upcoming and that school-led career fairs had recently taken place.
Ending: The director said staff will continue outreach and programming and will report intermittently through the year; no board action was taken on the programming matters at this meeting.
