The Community Redevelopment Agency approved three consent-agenda items on a single motion Tuesday evening, including an enhancement study for the North State Road 7 and Sunrise Boulevard corridor after commissioners questioned illustrations that appeared to show unprotected bike lanes.
The corridor item was pulled from the consent agenda for discussion. A commissioner said images in the backup materials appeared to show painted bike lanes rather than the protected bike lanes the city has discussed previously. "I think those are just illustrative. The focus of this is on the landscaping, the lighting and signage. We didn't mean to indicate that we're going to be moving away from protected bike lanes at all," Jason, a city staff member, replied. He added the staff would convey the commissioner’s concern to the project's consultants.
Resident Dennis Conklin also addressed the commissioners, saying one of the illustrated street segments—"Northwest 50 Seventh Street"—appeared to fall outside the CRA boundary and asking for clarification. No further changes were made to the study description during the meeting.
After discussion the agency approved the pulled item and the remaining consent items. Miss Beggaro, the agency clerk, called the roll; commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the two-item consent approval and the separately considered corridor study.
