Planning Commission continues AEGIS Beaumont 15-unit apartment hearing to March 26 over outstanding stormwater calculations

The Beaumont Planning Commission on March 12 continued a public hearing for plot plan PP2023-591 (commonly referred to as AEGIS Beaumont), a proposed 15-unit apartment complex at 1360 East Sixth Street, to the March 26 meeting to allow the applicant time to finalize outstanding stormwater calculations in the Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP).
Planning staff explained the project has one outstanding item in the WQMP: updated design calculations used to size the stormwater basin. Public Works staff (Hugo) said the calculations are feasible to update within a few days but that coordination and finalization are required. Planning staff said the applicant and the citys Public Works Director and city manager have engaged on the issue.
Given the outstanding WQMP items, staff recommended continuing the hearing to a date certain so the commission and public would have the revised materials before further consideration. Commissioners moved to continue the matter to the March 26, 2025 meeting. The motion passed unanimously: Commissioners Copeland, Cueva, Koblen and Vice Chair Smith voted yes.
Why it matters: the continuance delays final commission action while the technical stormwater calculations are finalized; the calculations affect on-site drainage design and compliance with city and county stormwater requirements.
Staff will publish the revised materials and any additional public notices in advance of the March 26 meeting so the commission and the public can review the updated WQMP and related documents before further action.
