Richard Lawson told the Agoura Hills City Council that he is concerned about hazardous‑debris hauling routes and the potential for diesel exhaust and other pollutants to affect local communities as cleanup proceeds.
Lawson said he had read that phase 1 of the debris operation removed hazardous household materials and that phase 2 would wrap and seal any remaining hazardous household waste. He asked the city to request increased site testing from Los Angeles County before removal and to determine how many trucks are using routes through Malibu Canyon and Lost Hills Road.
Lawson also questioned whether environmental regulations were being suspended during debris removal and said he wanted the city to press county authorities for clarity on truck counts and routes. He described the route as passing schools and scenic corridors and said the truck traffic raised environmental and public‑health concerns.
The city did not take action on the request during the public‑comment period. Lawson said he planned to return at a future meeting to address other issues, including a separate water‑tower concern.
