ELL coordinator thanks staff after district administers more than 1,300 WIDA ACCESS tests

Kristen Jones, an English-language-learners teacher and the district’s WIDA ACCESS testing coordinator, used public comment to thank ELL teachers and support staff for administering the annual ACCESS tests.
Jones said the district administered “over 1,300 tests during this testing window,” and she named staff and school sites that helped, including Richmond High School ELL teachers Jose Iglesias and Renee Cola; Cassie Loudermilk and Elizabeth Marquardt for department support; IT technicians for ensuring computers were ready; and instructional interpreters who assisted test-takers. “These wonderful ladies supported our students while the ELL teachers are not available to work with them while they're administering WIDA ACCESS,” Jones said.
Jones asked the board to recognize the logistical work of staff who ordered materials, coordinated pickups, and managed deadlines so test materials could be returned on time. She also noted the tests can be lengthy for students, with each of the four domains taking as long as an hour, and thanked families for supporting students during a testing period that coincided with national events.
Ending: Jones closed by thanking district testing coordinators, secretaries and families and asked that the board convey appreciation for the staff who administered the tests.
