Daryl Morgan of Richmond addressed the board during public comment to criticize a recent presentation by an outside investigator about an interaction on Sept. 24 between the high school volleyball and basketball programs.
Morgan said the investigator, whom he identified as Jonathan Mace, presented a limited account that focused on a single interaction. “His presentation was totally focused on the interaction between the volleyball team and the basketball team on Tuesday, September 24,” Morgan said. He argued the presentation omitted earlier scheduling changes and a prior relocation of the volleyball team on Sept. 10, and described multiple incidents that, in his view, showed a pattern rather than a one-time occurrence.
Morgan urged the board to seek the full investigative record. “If you want the information, ask for all of the statements that were made by the players and the coaches, and then you'll know the true story,” he said, and asked the board to consider refunding part of the investigator’s fee because he said the presentation provided only part of the evidence.
Nut graf: Morgan framed his comments as a public request for the board to consider whether the district has a complete record of the facts and whether the investigator’s summary was sufficient for the board’s purposes.
Ending: Morgan closed by saying the volleyball team had acted appropriately and invited the board to contact him for additional information.
