Board adopts multiple student- and operations-related policies, schedules several updated policies for final approval next month

Those adoptions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote at the meeting.
Board members also received first readings of proposed revisions to multiple policies that will return for adoption next month. First-read items included updates to awards for achievement (BP 05/1926), graduation ceremonies and activities (BP 5127), bullying (BP 5131.2) and its administrative regulation, campus disturbances (BP 05/2004), vandalism (BP 5131.5), alcohol and other drugs (BP 5131.6), anabolic steroids (BP 5131.63), and academic honesty (BP 5131.9). Staff said many of the updates align policy language with current Education Code requirements and add guidance on digital storage, cyberbullying, technology use and prevention-focused approaches to substance use.
Syed (staff member) presented the series of policy updates and noted that several policies were carried forward from older versions and updated to match Ed. Code and current district practice. Ronnell (staff member) was thanked during discussion for work on the policy set.
