Kurt, a district staff member who presented the bids to the board, said the district received an unusually large number of bidders for the projects. "We had probably one of the best number of bidders that I've had on a project in a long time," Kurt told the board, adding that JC Roofing is based in South Sioux City, Nebraska and already is planning staffing for the jobs.
Board members asked about timing and price stability given recent tariff concerns. Kurt responded that once a contractor has submitted a bid and the board accepts it, the price is locked in. Board discussion also covered the scope of the high school work (the front, older portion of the building and an adjacent mechanical penthouse) and the middle school portion (from the student services area back), and the middle‑school package requires a more complicated insulation system to route roof drainage.
