The Stoughton School Committee on March 11 approved two out‑of‑state field trips by unanimous votes.
The eighth‑grade band and chorus trip to Canopy Lake Park in New Hampshire, a recurring annual trip following a music festival, was approved by a 4–0 voice vote. Committee members discussed the possibility of pre‑approving recurring trips in the future.
The committee also approved a kindergarten trip to the Providence Children’s Museum in Rhode Island that included an added group from the Gibbons School; the motion passed 4–0. Administrators said the Providence museum was chosen because travel time is shorter and gives younger students more time at the museum.
Both trips were moved and seconded by committee members during the meeting; votes were unanimous.
Ending: The motions passed with no recorded dissents; staff will complete standard field‑trip permissions and logistics.
