Commission reviews draft vision statement for Comprehensive Plan 2045; staff to send draft to assembly

Borough planning staff told the Planning & Zoning Commission on March 12 that the draft vision statement for the Comprehensive Plan 2045 is ready for commissioner review and will be sent to the Assembly for comment.

"Now that the hazard mitigation plan is completed, we'll be getting back to work on the new comprehensive plan, plan 2045," the staff member Chris said, presenting a written draft. Staff asked commissioners to email Chris or Bronwyn with suggested changes prior to an Assembly work-session review scheduled for April 10.

Staff said the next steps include workshops on land use and housing, expected to take place in April, and an overall aim to complete the comprehensive-plan process by the end of 2025. Commissioners welcomed the draft and thanked staff for incorporating prior discussions into the ordinance drafts and vision material.

Why it matters: The comprehensive plan sets long-range land-use and policy guidance for the borough. The vision statement will shape subsequent workshop content and ordinance updates, including zoning and housing-policy discussions.
