The Kodiak Island Borough Planning & Zoning Commission discussed a draft ordinance on March 12 to add or revise rules for pet-related uses, including boarding kennels, boarding services and animal shelters.
Borough staff said the draft — reviewed by the borough attorney and clerk — updates conditional-use standards in section 17.260 and adds facility-specific guidance. The revisions would generally require that boarding facilities seek conditional-use approval when outdoor runs or activities are proposed and would allow the commission to impose site-specific conditions.
