Wylie animal shelter moves into phase 2 of renovation; board hears April 1 target

At the March 12, 2025 meeting of the Wylie Animal Shelter Advisory Board, board member Sheila Patton reported that the shelter renovation has moved into phase 2 and staff are targeting April 1 to finish the immediate operational work required to resume fuller service.

Patton said Phase 1 was completed on March 3 and that the project has progressed into a broader second phase that extends work into the shelter bay, quarantine and intake areas. "Phase 1 was completed on March 3," Patton said. "We have started our, our phase 2." She told the board the work focused on immediate disease-control needs, staff workflow and public access pathways rather than a full rebuild.
