Indianapolis plat committee approves expedited plats, grants recording extensions and several continuances

The Indianapolis Plat Committee on March 12 approved a slate of expedited subdivision plats, granted recording extensions for several previously approved plats and continued multiple petitions to April 9, 2025, without additional notice.

Committee action centered on requests to waive the two-year recording requirement for plats that the committee had approved in prior years, several petitioners asking to move their cases to the expedited docket, and staff requests to continue a few vacation and variance petitions while agency transmittals or payments were completed.

Among the recording extensions granted, the committee unanimously approved a one-year waiver for 2023PLT005 (7610 West County Line Road), moving the recording deadline to March 12, 2026. Staff told the committee it had "no opposition" to the waiver because there had been no change in the applicable ordinance since the plat’s original approval.

The committee also granted a one-year recording extension for 2022CPL825 (6379 North College Avenue) to May 26, 2025, after the petitioner said a survey/recording mix-up required extra time to gather signatures. Kelly Shaw of the City of Indianapolis Office of Finance and Management and Mark Harvey, capital projects manager for the Indianapolis Fire Department, spoke in support of that extension.
