"It's my understanding though that at least one of our schools that I can think of does give priority seats to a geographical area," Vice Chair Sarah Leonardi said, asking whether the board needed to act after the district’s recent policy changes.
District staff responded that priority or prescribed choice areas typically are established through the boundary process. "When boundaries were established ... there are a few schools that have a prescribed choice area, but that is established in the boundary process," a district staff member, identified in the meeting as Mr. Beck, told the board.
