U.N. says attacks in Ukraine killed civilians and damaged infrastructure; convoys delivering aid to frontline communities

The U.N. office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs reported civilian deaths and injuries from attacks across several parts of Ukraine, including Donetsk, Dnipro and Kherson regions, U.N. spokesperson Steph said Monday.
Steph said apartment buildings, homes, a hospital, schools and other infrastructure were damaged, and that authorities reported disruptions to gas and electricity networks. She said an early-morning attack in Odesa hit a commercial maritime vessel docked in the port, killing four sailors; the vessel had been reported as intended to transport grain to Algeria.
The spokesperson described rapid humanitarian responses in affected areas: in Dnipro, organizations provided first aid, shelter materials and psychosocial support; in Kherson, an interagency convoy delivered generators, medicines, hygiene supplies and winter items. Since the start of the year, Steph said, the U.N. and partners have facilitated 13 humanitarian convoys, including six to Kherson, reaching nearly 17,000 residents in frontline communities in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Steph said humanitarian organizations remain committed to ensuring aid reaches those most affected as needs persist and the situation evolves.
