Jeremy Griffin, an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, appeared before the City of Tulsa Urban and Economic Development Committee to accept a nomination to the Board of Appeals, replacing Judy Emert. The nomination carries a term through June 30, 2026, and the full City Council will vote on the appointment at its March 26 meeting at 5 p.m.
Griffin told the committee he has been an electrician "for a little over a decade" and a Tulsa resident for about seven years. "I love this city and I wanna see it grow," he said, adding he has a "very personal vested interest in seeing economic development here and in helping out here in Tulsa."
Committee chair Councilor Lauren Bells thanked Griffin for stepping forward and explained the committee would forward the nomination to the March 26 council meeting for a final vote. No formal vote on the appointment was recorded at the committee meeting.
Because the committee recorded only the nomination and scheduled the council vote, no committee-level action or seat assignment took effect at the meeting. The council's March 26 vote will determine whether Griffin is formally appointed to the Board of Appeals.
